The state’s attorney general, Jerry Brown, joined by district attorneys from manyCaliforniq counties, including Alameda, Santa Clarqa and Contra Costa, filed a suit againstf Minneapolis-based Target (NYSE: TGT), saying it sent hazardous waste to various landfills in violation of state law. The suit is mean to stop the practices. In news Target said it has been cooperating withthe AG’s officr for three years on this matter and that it is committed to complying with all environmental Kmart, owned by (NASDAQ: agreed to a settlement that includes civil penalties, lega l costs and some money to boost protection of the environmenyt in the state.
Thomas Orloff, Robert Kochly, James Fox and Dolores Carr, the DAs of Alameda, Contra San Mateo and Santaw Claracounties respectively, joined Brown in the suit againstg Target. According to court Target has180 facilities, includingb stores and warehouses, in The suit alleges Target threw out “ignitable aerosoll wastes” including propane canisters, in a trash compactor in Alamedqa County on May 14 and May 21, for example.
