U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in a releases that Franklin County isreceiving $4.5o million under the Edward Byrne Memoria Justice Assistance Grant Program. That initiative is backeed by morethan $4 billion that was earmarkedr in the federal stimulus package Presidentf Barack Obama signed this year. On top of the grang to Franklin County and severalother municipal-levelp awards totaling $6.
55 million, Ohio is receiving more than $38 milliobn through the same program and must disburse part of the funds to locapl jurisdictions. Holder said the funds are aimefd at supporting job creatiohn and training in a wide rangeof law-enforcemenyt areas. “By addressing Ohio’es economic challenges while simultaneously meetintthe state’s public safety priorities, thesde funds represent the best of what the (Americanj Investment and) Recovery Act can do for our Holder said in a release. “This vital funding will help fighgt crime and buildsafet communities, and we look forward to continued work with Ohio to addressx these criminal-justice goals.” The U.S.
