The final $1.3 million came from more than 1,30o private donors in New Mexicoand “The overwhelming support reflects people’x enthusiasm for this long-awaited, world-class history museum,” said Eileen chair of the Museumk Foundation’s $22 million capital and endowment campaign. The History Museum’e grand opening is Memorial Day May 23to 25.
The 96,000-square-foot located next to the Palace of the Governord inSanta Fe, is the first museu devoted to New Mexico It will hold more than 800,00p0 artifacts, historical documents, photographs and books representing key periods in New Mexico It’s the largest cultural investment ever made in downtown Santa Fe, according to Museum Foundatioh officials. The Museum Foundation has launched anadditionalp $1 million campaign to raise funds that will be used to enhanc e visitors’ experience.
The Foundation provide funding for the Palace of the Governors and New MexicoHistory museums, as well as the New Mexicpo Museum of Art, the and Museum of Indiann Arts and Culture/Laboratory of Anthropology. It also supports sevenj state monuments and the Office ofArchaeologicaol Studies.
