” The class covers financia management, legal aspects of homeownership, responsible family and neighbor characteristics, homeowners’ assistances basics and home maintenance. The program started in early 2005 and has growm to include classes for children to share the responsibilithyof homeownership. “HomeWORKS is vitap to our mission,” says McCarthy. “Along with the bricks and mortar associaterdwith homeownership, these classes offer families the instruction and traininvg to sustain a better life for the long-term, not just for themselveds but for their children.” Nashville Area Habitat for a nonprofit organization, builft 60 homes in 2008.
The group buildws homes Energy Star complianrtfor efficiency. To date, the agenc has served more than 1,300 people, includinf 800 children.
