The $6 million center was designer for studying cropping systems comprised of agronomic practices and biotech traitdincluding water-use efficiency technologies such as drought-toleranty cropping systems. The center will help Monsanto advance researcj to helpimprove farmers’ productivity in the Westerbn Great Plains. More than 80 croppingg and irrigation demonstrations are featured atthe 155-acrre farm and learning center. The cented will be hardwired to eventually conducgt virtual tours of robotics and seed analytics facilitied in remote locations suchas Monsanto’s breeding facility in Ankeny, or the company’s Chesterfield, Mo., researcyh facility.
Gothenburg Learning Center Lead Chandledr Mazour said Monsanto selected the site becausre of its location in the transition zone from dryland acresx to irrigated acres on the western High Plainzs and that Monsanto needs that diversityt to determine how to use future technologiezs in adding valueto crops.
